Description of opportunity:

Where and when:

We are looking for a signposting volunteer for each foodbank session. We run three
foodbank sessions a week Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 12:30-3:30 across the wards of
Whalley Range, Hulme, Moss Side and Old Trafford. Ideally a volunteer would attend a
session at least once a week.

Overview of the role:

Within our foodbank sessions we want to ensure that every client has been given the opportunity to speak to a volunteer about any further support needs they might have. This role therefore involves directly working with clients, exploring any issues clients might have and supporting them in the most relevant way. This might include giving
information, signposting to another organisation, or supporting the client to complete forms. This role will be fully supported by the foodbank team lead and a professional advice worker. You will be fully trained in providing signposting support - you just need to be a people-oriented person.
