Description of opportunity:

Who we are:

Moodswings is a Manchester-based mental health charity, providing support to the city for 25 years. We want to inspire people to like the way they think again. When this happens, you become aware of your strength and resilience. You recognise the beauty of your unique perspective and the immense value it holds, helping your mind recover for a better version of you.

We offer a wide range of services including:

  • 1-2-1 recovery-focused support for people who want to get better and stay better, free of charge.
  • Emotional support for mates and relatives, enabling them to be supporters.
  • A helpline where we can provide information, advice and support on a range of mental health problems for both those who are struggling, as well as those seeking out advice to help mates and relatives.
  • Regular social sessions and mindful meet-ups to take your mind off your mind.
  • 1-2-1 mental health support for university students across Greater Manchester, helping students work through and overcome any barriers surrounding their mental health, and negatively affecting their studies.
  • Monthly recovery workshops known as ALPS, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

What are we looking for?

We are keen to find individuals who would like to contribute to the growth and continued success of Moodswings. We are particularly looking for people who have knowledge of the following areas:

  • Experience of working in a mental health field
  • Lived experience of mental health difficulties
  • Fundraising experience.

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

As a Trustee, you would be responsible for making decisions about the running of the organisation and share legal responsibility for the charity. This involves joining board meetings on a semi-regular basis. Often Trusteeship is less time-demanding than other forms of volunteering.
