Description of opportunity:

 

Peter Quinn Friendship Group Dementia Support (PQFG) are a volunteer-led community group based on Crowcroft Road in Longsight.

Their members come from across South Manchester, mainly Burnage, Ladybarn, Fallowfield, Levenshulme and Gorton. They offer support and activities for anyone in these communities affected by dementia or other cognitive changes.

Every Wednesday 11am - 3pm. Must be over 18 years of age.

Tasks may include:  

  • Setting up the hall 
  • Preparing tea/coffee 
  • Serving food and drinks 
  • Engaging with service users
  • Clean down at end of day 

Applicants must be reliable, committed and enthusiastic.  

Demonstrate patience and be able to use initiative during daily running. 

On the job training with be provided but the ability to work independently with guidance and support is necessary. 

The main attraction for our group is live music as it really does improve the mood, some dancing may also be included.  

The main role of a volunteer is to help make sure the daily running of the group goes smoothly, that everybody has what they need and they are happy and to interact with service users to make them smile.  

This is not a paid position and there will be no reimbursements for travel. 

If you are passionate about our older generation and would like to improve the impact social isolation has, this could be the role for you
