Description of opportunity:

Who we are:

Calm Connections offer vital support to families that have children or young people with mental health or emotional wellbeing challenges.

What would you be doing:

We’ve had really positive feedback from our current mentors who have said that becoming a mentor has impacted positively on their wellbeing and has allowed for personal growth. The families that the mentors support have reported feeling more confident, happier and have gained more clarity as a result of the mentoring scheme which is why we are looking to train more mentors to support even more families.

What are we looking for:

Our applications are open for anyone who would like to train as a mentor. We are looking for people with lived experience of supporting a child or young person who has mental health or emotional wellbeing challenges to support others in this role.

The mentors will be trained in September for 2 hours a week over a 6 week period in the Trafford/Stretford area. The training includes sessions on active and empathetic listening, safeguarding, goal setting and self awareness. After the training the mentor will be matched with a mentee and will have contact (usually on the phone) with a mentee for an hour a week.

The mentors have support from the mentor lead, access to monthly group supervision, CPD opportunities and they are welcomed into the Calm Connections team.
