About the Sector

The voluntary and community sector is made up of groups and organisations which are not-for-profit, non-statutory or non-governmental organisations; it includes volunteering and covers a huge range of sizes and structures of organisations, usually referred to as ‘voluntary and community groups’.

Voluntary and community groups include the following and more: informal hobby groups; tenants and residents associations; youth organisations; advice and support services; lobbying and campaigning groups; faith groups, and registered charities.
