Nominate your Local Sporting Hero, Club, Athlete or School. The community sports scene is thriving. The awards are to:
• Recognise the hard work of clubs, coaches, volunteers and officials who support the ongoing development of sport in Manchester
• Highlight the achievements of the talented athletes who live in and represent the city
Manchester Carers Network, a group of 21 voluntary organisations who provide information, advice and support to carers, is working with LGBT Foundation, who deliver support and information services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, with an aim of understanding the views of LGBT carers and learning how they can help improve access to services, support and information that is relevant and beneficial to them as a carer.

GSK’s IMPACT Awards reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve people’s health. Organisations must be at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the UK, with income between £80,000 and £2.5 million. Up to 20 awards will be made ranging from £3,000 to £40,000 plus free training valued at up to £6,000. Organisations will also have a film made, receive help with press and publicity and be given a set of promotional materials.
Sport England has awarded Greater Manchester £10m National Lottery funding, having chosen the region as a pilot area to make getting active even easier.
