Diversifying Trusteeship

Registration is closed for this event

Course Overview

92% of UK trustees are white, older, and above average income and education. Just 8% of charity trustees are from Black, Asian, and other minority backgrounds, and fewer than 3% are women of colour. 70% of charities find it difficult to recruit trustees, and there are an estimated 100,000 unfilled charity trustee positions in the UK. This half day training course is designed to demystify trustee recruitment for small organisations, and ensure that equity, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of your trustee recruitment.

Course Aims

This course aims to equip charity leaders and boards to ensure good governance through the recruitment of diverse and skilled new trustees. Blending charity marketing and volunteer recruitment best practice, learners will explore a simple, step by step process to revolutionise their trustee recruitment, reaching new trustees who are underrepresented on their boards. Real world practical case studies will show how other charities have achieved success, and the course includes a wide range of helpful tools, templates and resources to takeaway and implement in your organisation.

  • Understand why diversity on boards is so important
  • How to conduct a board skills and diversity audit
  • How to plan and deliver a simple, step by step trustee recruitment campaign
