Summary:
Are you interested in becoming a vaccinations champion for older people?
The GM Older People’s Network are working with the NHS to share information about vaccinations with people across Greater Manchester who can then share with their communities, groups and networks.
Event detail:
Viruses common in winter can make some people very unwell and result in serious problems that may need hospital care. The NHS offers free vaccines to those at greatest risk, so they can get the protection they need.
Some people are mistrustful of vaccinations and it is recognised that information received from trusted community networks and individuals plays a big part in sharing the importance of vaccinations and allaying fears that people may have ensuring they protect your health, help reduce the spread, and stay well.
Join us online at our Vaccinations Champions workshop on Wednesday 5th March 2025 (2 PM – 4 PM)
Content of the session will include:
- Value of vaccinations for both the individual and the population at large
- Myth-busting
- Up to date information on what vaccinations are available
- When vaccinations are available for older people and other groups
- Where vaccinations are available
- Who to contact for more information
- Different approaches to sharing this information
We ask that following the workshop Champions take the time to share the knowledge with others. This doesn’t have to be in any formal way but we recognise that word of mouth is a powerful tool and the aim of this project is to share information as widely as possible.
As a thank you for taking part, each Champion will receive a gratuity of £50. This can be provided through bank transfer or as a voucher if preferred.
We are looking for representatives across Greater Manchester. If these workshops are over-subscribed we may look to organise a further session so if you are interested in getting involved but are not able to attend these dates, please do let us know by contacting us at [email protected]
