This role provides administrative support to the volunteer team as well as being a point of contact for volunteers on site. You will be helping us to keep our volunteers up to date with newsletters and bulletins, also supporting us in processing new starters and answering emails.

It would be good if….

  • Have experience of being proactive and working with minimal supervision where appropriate (paid or voluntary).
  • Are familiar with an office setting.
  • Want to gain experience of working in a busy office environment and/or want to learn new skills.

SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: 

  • To volunteer in this role, you must be {18} or over.
  • You must be able to volunteer one day per week (day to be decided) for a minimum period of 12 months- this is a long-term opportunity.
  • If successful, depending on your role, we’ll request either a basic or enhanced criminal record check. We’ll arrange and process this for you and will cover all the costs.
  • Any issues raised in a criminal record check will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • We are legally required to ensure all volunteers from overseas have the right to volunteer in the UK, so please check your visa before applying.
  • SMG is unable to act as a sponsor organisation if you do not have a visa that allows you to volunteer.

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

This role provides administrative support to the volunteer team as well as being a point of contact for volunteers on site. You will be helping us to keep our volunteers up to date with newsletters and bulletins, also supporting us in processing new starters and answering emails.

The admin office is usually staffed between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday to Friday and the role will take place at some point during this time each week.

  • Data entry, electronic filing, photocopying and other general office duties.
  • Making and receiving phone calls.
  • Scanning and filing of volunteer documents.
  • Maintenance of database.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by the volunteer team.
  • As a volunteer you’ll learn about our Health and Safety Policies, procedures, and risk assessments, allowing you to take care of your own personal safety and that of others.
