Description: The Chatterbox Project is a charity in Manchester which supports one of the most impoverished communities in the country through an open-access programme of activities and services delivered from the heart of the community. Run by a small but dedicated team of local people, our purpose is to bring people together, provide practical help in times of need, and raise the aspirations of people living in poverty.
Services delivered: We provide the following services on a weekly basis during term time:
Food Bank
Addiction support sessions
Free community meals
Peer support sessions
Informal financial advice and advocacy
Support with benefit applications/CV writing/Job searching
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Chair-based exercises for the frail and elderly
Adult education in a range of subjects according to demand (e.g. Maths, English, IT)
Recreational classes according to demand (including arts and crafts, knitting, soap making, cooking, photography, and dance)
Community gardening
Volunteering opportunities
Adult and toddler group (twice a week)
Ofsted-registered preschool (3 days a week)
Ofsted-registered after-school club (3 nights a week)
We also run one- off events and trips, including our Family Fun Day, Money Advice Sessions, Afternoon Teas, and children's trips. We also run a summer play scheme for primary school aged children, and invite other groups to deliver sessions at our facility (e.g. football skills).
