Description: Levenshulme Good Neighbours supports older people to live independent and fulfilling lives by matching them with volunteers from the local community. Our volunteers do the kind of things a good neighbour does. This might include visiting a housebound person who is experiencing loneliness, helping someone with their garden who can no longer physically manage, helping people with limited mobility get out into the community, helping with odd jobs around the home and escorting people to a range of events, activities and appointments that they would otherwise be unable to attend. We provide the kind of emotional and practical support that falls outside of the remit of social care providers; it is this kind of flexible support that can change a person’s life. We take the time to get to know older people and we help people in any way that we can.
