Description: For the purpose of this project we will be working in an informal partnership with Great Places Housing Association. The plan is to run a pilot befriending project designed to meet the needs of Great Places tenants who are over 50 years of age and socially isolated. The aim will be to recruit volunteers from amongst Great Places tenants, so that once they are trained and have had their DBS checks they can be matched with their isolated 50+ neighbours.
One of the bases for this project will be Great Places Byron’s Extra Care Housing Scheme based in Blackley. This scheme houses 40 people who are 50 + and have housing, health or other needs.
Great Places and Cyril Flint will be able to share the learning that occurs during the lifetime of this pilot project.
