Description: Henshaws is one of Greater Manchester's oldest charities, supporting people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to go beyond expectations.
We believe that, wherever they are, everyone has the right to an independent and fulfilling life. Our support, advice and training enables people and their families to build skills, develop confidence, help each other and look forward to a more positive future.

Services delivered: We provide and continue to develop a wide range of activities and support for groups and individuals to support all people living with sight loss. Our three centres in Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle offer a range of locally defined services to provide people with sight loss with more opportunities and greater choices to live independently in their communities. Our service users are referred to us in a number of different ways and following their referral will then access our Pathway to Independence.
The pathway consists of four elements:
A. How can we help you? - Specialist information, advice and guidance.
B. Let’s make a plan - Individualised Assessment and the production of an agreed action plan.
C. Independence Matters - Tailored short courses and one-to-one training to provide individuals with the skills to live and work independently in their home and community.
D. Friendship Matters - Providing lifelong peer-to-peer support through our hobbyist, support and social groups.
