Description: The Widows Empowerment Trust was founded in January 2017 out of empathy for widows and widowers. The Trust was formed with a goal of empowering widows, promote social inclusion, supporting through grief and to fight isolation.


We are guided by a firm belief that our love and empathy can connect us all together despite age, religion, sexual orientation, race or culture. As an NGO and non-profit organisation, The Widows Empowerment Trust is open to people of all faiths, social backgrounds and abilities. We promote social inclusion, diversity and acceptance.
Services delivered: We provide volunteering oppoortunities to become befreinders to ur beneficiaries who are isolated and socially isolated.
Through the services listed above we improve the overall wellbeing of beneficaries by reducing their loneliness and isolation.

Volunteering Opportunities

Opportunity title Summary
Volunteer coordinators <p>we are looking for a motivated person with an empathy, compassion and a keen interest in supporting widows and their children. The roles involves assessing and meeting an organisation&#39;s need through recruitment, fund bidding application and retention of volunteers. you will manage volunteers and their relationships with those they come into contact with, including monitoring the service users of the organisation. you will also monitor, evaluate and accredit volunteers. you will manager and co-ordinator the practical workshop (art and craft session) you will work across the public and private sectors but your concentration will be in the third (voluntary, charitable and community) sector. The role of a volunteer coordinator has increased recognition as a profession within its own right.</p>
Bag packing We support women who are bereaved and feel socially excluded. we provide emotional, social, moral and practical support to enable them integrate in the community. we bring back love, joy, happiness and smiles to widows and their children. we also, tackle isolation and loneliness facing widows and others in the community. We empower widows and others who feel isolated and lonely with skills to become independent, and Promote social Inclusion. Fundraising Bag packing volunteers-various location in Manchester, As a local charity we want to see widows and others who feel social excluded live well but we can only do this by raising funds to support the services we provide.</p>
Befriender We support women who are bereaved. One of the ways we try to beat loneliness in life is through our befriending services, where a volunteer visits a widow once a week in their own home. Loneliness and Isolation is a massive issue for widows. We are looking for volunteers willing to befriend a widow, assist them to access their local community and if needed be willing to offer support. A volunteer befriender will not be asked to meet any personal care needs, A member of staff will be available to give you continuous on-going support, advice and guidance.
Activity support worker Plan activity programmes based on clients ability and preference such as Art and Craft, music (Karaoke), Knitting & Crotchet, Sewing, Canvass.
Administrator Helping the organisation to run smoothly and efficiently.
Maintain awareness of risks and changes in internal and external environment that affect the organisation
Box collector volunteer Manage and placing charity collection boxes in shops, pubs, chemist, doctor's surgeries etc in your area
Bag packing Offering to pack customers shopping to encourage donations. Bag packing is a great way to raise money for our cause.
Bag packing We need volunteers to join us with our bag packing to support women who have experienced bereavement. This to enable us run our day to day running cost.
This is a chance for you to have fun chatting with customers while gaining skills in customer service and valuable volunteering experience, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting vulnerable people in our community.
