Description: East Manchester Circle is a partner organisation of HMR Circle, short for Heywood, Middleton, and Rochdale Circle. East Manchester Circle is a membership-based organization dedicated to supporting older adults in areas of Greater Manchester. We provide practical assistance with daily tasks such as gardening, home maintenance, and transportation. Additionally,Circle organises social events, fitness classes, and cultural outings to help members stay active and socially connected. By fostering a sense of community and promoting independence, Circle significantly enhances the quality of life for its members.
Services delivered: We work across 4 key themes
Social-Every month we organise between 30-40 different social events every month, ranging from meeting up for a coffee, going out for a meal or to a show, walks, talks, quizzes-in fact anything and everything our members suggest.
Practical- We give our members help with gardening, decorating, cleaning, DIY, moving boxes, changing lightbulbs- All the jobs older people struggle to get someone to come and do
Befriending- Working with Give & Take Care CIC based at Brunel University we are working an a new sustainable befriending scheme that looks to match people up using bespoke software based on geography, shared interests and availability.
Transport- We run the Volunteer Drivers Service (VDS) which operates across the Rochdale borough, organising transport for older people and vulnerable adults, completing between 1200-1500 trips every month
