Community Events
Our community aims to help immigrant people to develop social skills, social networks and improve their well-being in a friendly, informal, non-judgmental environment.
Walking/Jogging and Cycling Groups:
We believe in the importance and value of outdoor excursions and trips. A trip away, however short, allows us time to think, reflect, and renew, especially if it is organised with this aim in mind. We, therefore, organise a number of short excursions throughout the year. At the same time, we have 2 different cycling groups, and we make nature trips on pre-determined routes.
Professional knowledge exchanges
We organise seminars for our colleagues from different parts of the world who have done different professions, including teaching, construction, fast food and the health sector, and nursery management.
Religious Activities
We organise social events to bring people together to explore and experience faith in the public space through public conferences and celebrations.
Celebration of Special Days
In remembrance of Prophet Noah and thanksgiving to God, we organise series of "Noah's Pudding" events during the month of Muharram. We distribute food in local neighbours to around 200 families each year.
5a-side Football Matches
We organise 5A-sides football matches every week, including endgame activities.
Community Talk Program (Sohbets)
Adults gather on certain days of the week to make conversations (sohbet). Approximately 70 male friends from Bury, Rochdale, Bolton and Manchester attend the conversations on different days and at different times. Our conversations or circles consist of five to ten participants with one facilitator. The facilitator usually gathers the group once a week in a two-hour session where a brief text (usually an excerpt from the Koran or a religious commentary) is followed by a detailed discussion by the facilitator and discussed by the group. The purpose of circles is to ask and answer questions, revitalise belief through discussions and provide a safe space to criticise, think, and discuss.
