United Pride Friends
Where do they work?: City-Wide
Registered charity number: 0
Description: United Pride Friends is group for members of the LGBT community with Autism and learning difficulties. The primary purpose of our group is giving members a safe place to meet new people and make friends.
Services delivered: We would like to gain around 50 members in the first year from Greater Manchester, including the surrounding rural, areas such as Derbyshire and Wigan. During outreach sessions people from these areas have expressed how they feel isolated as people are less accepting; creating a community in a central location will hopefully begin to build a more supportive network for LGBT with ALD.
We will aid members in organising any kind of event or project that they want to put on through United Pride Friends, including educational pamphlets or sessions on topics of their choice. We would like to host regular trips to a range of places, such as the cinema, theatre, or even Alton Towers! This will provide members with fantastic opportunities to socialise in settings outside of our usual group venue and maybe even try something new. At the heart of our group, we want our members to have a great time with us.
