Real Food Wythenshawe supports people to lead healthier, happier lives, in particular those members of the community who are amongst the most socially and economically excluded. Our beneficiaries include adults, children, young people, physical and learning disability groups, BME community, refugees, individuals suffering mental ill-health, lone parents, LBGT and people who are experiencing social isolation. Working closely with local healthcare providers, Real Food Wythenshawe aims to improve the health of local people through food: teaching people to cook, grow their own produce, and enhance wellbeing through nature based activities.
We are a community-based project delivering growing and cooking activities at sites across Wythenshawe (prior to Covid19 restrictions) which include: Wythenshawe Park and the Horticultural Centre, Manchester College, Benchill Community Centre, Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre, Wythenshawe indoor Market, Wythenshawe Foodbank (4 sites across Wythenshawe).

On-line cooking tutorials which launched towards the latter end of the year alone have received 3,745 views to date. We anticipate the delivery of growing and cooking activities through social media streams until restrictions are lifted when face to face activities will resume. We will also continue with online activities to reach those who are unable to attend in person. Telephone contact has continued with existing beneficiaries.
