Chanting from the Heart to Heal and Connect
The purpose is to bring healing and foster a sense of connection and belonging through shared mantra/chanting and sharing of our authentic selves.
We sing mantras (simple songs and tunes) from different religions/spiritual practices/cultures and in different languages (mainly Sanskrit but also English). We have an opening meditation circle to allow us to ground ourselves, to set intentions for the group, to share our authentic selves and speak from the heart in an inclusive, safe environment, free of judgments. The space is strictly confidential. We share songs and mantras that can support healing and foster a sense of connection and belonging. We close the circle with a group check in. The group is open to all who require a sense of connection and belonging through shared community activity. You are not required to play an instrument or be good at singing. Simply bring your authentic self and your voice and let the music guide you.
Although this is a support group, it is run in a sociocratic/leaderless way, whereby we each take responsibility for our selves, our emotional and mental well being. No one voice is less or more important than the other. This group does not provide medical/psychological healing. Honouring of our shared humanity as well as differences is at the core of this group. Diversity, inclusion and non-judgmental openness is key. The group is open to everyone of any ethnic/racial/cultural background, sexual orientation and gender identity.
