Music in Hospitals & Care

We're a charity that improves the health and wellbeing of children and adults through the healing power of live music. Our professional musicians share specially-created live music experiences with people in health and care settings, including those with dementia, serious illnesses and mental health issues. Research shows that live music has a real, measurable impact on people's experience of health and care -- it makes people feel relaxed and confident, reduces anxiety and loneliness, improves relationships between patients and carers, and improves health outcomes by encouraging physical activity, lowering blood pressure, reducing the perception of pain, improving cognition, and helping people to tolerate invasive medical procedures.
Our Music Delivery Team handpick professional musicians with the talent, sensitivity and people skills to share live music in hospitals, care homes, hospices and community settings that is tailored to the needs of each individual. Our musicians go where most won't -- we work in intensive care environments as part of our ICU Hear programme, and share soothing music with premature babies as part of our Lullaby Hour project. We deliver our sessions free of charge to settings, and build long-lasting relationships with them to develop bespoke programmes of music.
