Volunteering Opportunities

Opportunity title Summary
Customer Services Volunteer We are looking for people who are able to support our Retail team in the day to day running of our charity shop.
Help us Rebuild our Ancoats Building! Against a backdrop of national austerity, public service cuts and spiraling deprivation, we are innovating, re-building, and upgrading to tackle poverty, inequality and disadvantage across our city. While our Ancoats building is structurally sound, it was never designed for the work we do. Without major refurbishments it would become soon become impossible to maintain our existing services, let alone meet the rising need we face on a day-to-day basis.
Help Desk Volunteer
You can help people who have been unemployed for a long time, experiencing poverty or homelessness, to gain valuable experience working in a reception and administrative-based environment and to grow in self-confidence. Working alongside a volunteer with real office experience could really help our participants to learn the skills they need to find work. Help with managing telephone queries from people looking for help, to helping arrange furniture delivery slots for people who have finally secured their first tenancy.

Help to Facilitate our Big Rebuild We have undertaken major refurbishments to our hub in Ancoats. The Rebuild is not only about rebuilding our Ancoats building, but about rebuilding lives too – the works will enable us to move forwards with our plan to double our impact on poverty and homelessness in Greater Manchester. We are moving to Phase 2 of the Rebuild, where we move our shop, warehousing and main office to the other side of the building, so that works can continue where they are currently situated with minimal disruption to our services. We are looking for volunteers on Saturdays 12th and 19th August, 9.30am-4pm to help with moving the office equipment from one side of the building to the other. This will enable the contractors to work on the second half of the building, without disruption to the services we provide for our clients, participants and customers.
