Description: Moodswings is a Queens Award winning, charity set up in 1999 to support people with mental health problems and their friends and families. All services are provided free of charge and much of the work is done by volunteers Each year Moodswings works with around 1200 people, of whom approximately a third are friends and family. Services include a helpline, one to one support, recovery courses, life skills, groups and activities.

Although specialising in working with people with mood disorders, the charity supports people with other forms of emotional distress. Volunteering Opportunities

Opportunity title Summary
Bucket Collector
Helpline and Support Volunteer We are a small locally based charity that was set up about fifteen years ago to provide information, advice and support to people whose lives are affected by a severe mood disorder. Volunteers are needed to help us promote the service and, after training, deal with calls to the help-line.
Volunteer Piano Teacher We are looking for an enthusiastic piano player who can give a few hours per week, to help develop the piano skills of some of our supported people. Maybe you are an experienced teacher with time on your hands? Or would like to gain experience in the voluntary sector? Our piano sessions have always proven popular and benefited people's recovery. If you would like more information, do not hesitate to get in touch.
Helpline and Support Volunteer Can you spare a day a week volunteering with our award winning Manchester city centre mental health charity?

You will need to be reliable and able to get on with people. We are especially interested in hearing from people with personal experience of mental health problems and recovery. We need volunteers to join our team to answer our helpline, join in with our groups and eventually support people on a one to one basis in their recovery.

Helpline & Support Volunteer Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation and provide much needed support to people on a day to day basis. Our helpline is manned by volunteers. They also provide recovery based support on a one to one basis and help to run our groups. If you have a day a week to spare please get in touch to find out more about volunteering at Moodswings.
Craft and Chat Volunteer To lead a small Craft and Chat Group for people who experience mental health problems. The purpose of the group is to build social confidence and engage in crafty and creative activity.
Walking Group Volunteer We are looking for a volunteer to act as leader for our Walking Group and map out interesting local routes to enjoy some fresh air around Greater Manchester. If you enjoy walking, you are active, sociable and reliable; becoming our Walking Group volunteer could be just for you!
