Description: Alfurqan Centre is both a mosque and a charitable organization, thriving in the heart of Manchester between Rusholme and Moss Side. Beyond being a place of worship accommodating over 700 individuals, we are a hub for fostering a sense of belonging and unity within the community. Located in one of the UK's most deprived areas, Alfurqan Centre stands as a beacon of hope and support for all who seek it.
Our centre offers a wide range of services tailored to meet the needs of our community. We run a supplementary school, provide tuition classes, and host a popular youth club that attracts over 100 young boys weekly. Our sisters’ activities engage over 200 women each week in workshops, sports, and social events. Collaboration is key to our mission, and we are proud to work with esteemed organizations, including GMP Police, the NHS, Greater Manchester Fire Station, the University of Manchester, Manchester City Council, Sport England, and many more.
We serve a vibrant and diverse community of all ages, genders, and ethnic backgrounds, focusing especially on individuals from working- to lower-class backgrounds. Our support takes many forms, such as our annual Community Health and Wellbeing Day, where medical professionals offer screenings, vaccinations, and comprehensive examinations to those in need. Through such initiatives, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the lives we touch.
Our doors are always open, providing a safe, warm space where anyone is welcome to sit, relax, and feel at home. During Ramadan, we host community iftars where anyone—Muslim or non-Muslim—can come and enjoy a warm meal, reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity and community care.
