Description: Barnabus is a christian charity founded in 1991 to serve the needs of the homeless, destitute, and the prostitutes who work in Manchester.
Barnabus operates an evening street outreach Monday-Wednesday in the city centre meeting the immediate need of those who require food, drink, clothing or information.
The Beacon, Barnabus's drop-in centre is open at various times throughout the week providing food, drink, support and a number of social and educational activities.
Representatives of Barnabus also work in local prisons supporting inmates prior to and upon their release from prison.

Withdrawn: Charity Shop Volunteer As a volunteer in our shop you will be assisting our Shop Manager with the general running of our Charity shop. Duties will include running the till, stock preparation, shop displays, stock sorting and managing the general cleanliness and tidiness of the shop. Help us raise the funds we need to do the vital work of the charity with those who are homeless in our city.
ReNu Furniture Upcycling Volunteer Come and join our furniture upcycling project where you will get to work alongside those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness while they learn new skills and get re-acquainted with the world of work. By volunteering on this project you will be hands-on working with the furniture, painting, learning upcycling skills as well as helping make lunch for our friends and keeping the workshop clean and tidy.
Allotment Volunteer Duties of a volunteer will be to help open up the allotment each week, serve hot drinks and snacks, get involved with gardening (no experience is necessary - we will train you), spend time with our friends off the streets, help our friends travel from our drop-in centre in the city centre, and help to keep the project clean and tidy.
CLOSED: Early Morning Outreach Volunteer Our early morning outreach session runs in conjunction with our rough sleeper breakfast session.
