Description: We work to promote the Rights, Responsibilities and Respect of disabled people in society. We seek to influence public policy at National, Regional and local level and we work with public bodies, businesses, employers, other community and voluntary organisations, social enterprises and individual disabled people to remove barriers to employment and participation in society by disabled people. We provide a range of front-line services to disabled people to enable them to live independently and exercise choice and control in their lives. Our policies and working practices are based on the Social Model of Disability.

Special activities running over winter: Re-connecting programme
8 week programme to build confidence and to get back into the community. This is to support independent living skills and reducing social isolation. Referrals can be made by emailing [email protected] and they will send back a simple form to complete.

Walking group
Taking place on a Monday afternoon at Heaton Park Prestwich, this is open to anyone who is disabled. We will also launch another group in Wythenshawe Park later in late April/Early May. These are free to attend and sign up can be done by contacting [email protected]

Digital skill
Digital Pathways courses (8 sessions) will hopefully start in late June once restrictions have lifted. This will provided 2 courses of 10 people training on how to use a chromebook. Sign up by emailing [email protected]

Activity Mentor We are a disabled people’s organisation which supports people to live independently. Join our team of Activity Mentors on our new ‘Let’s Have A Good Week’ project and support disabled people to participate in activities of their choice, building confidence and tackling social isolation. If you can make a regular weekly commitment for a period of at least 12 weeks, we can offer you full training and CV-enhancing or personally rewarding experience. We will match you to a disabled person in your local community and you will work with them to engage with their hobbies and interest. You will see those you support grow in confidence and self-sufficiency over their time with you.
Disabled People's Organisation Trustees A disabled people’s organisation, seek up to three new Trustees. Trustees should have lived experience of disability, business backgrounds in senior level positions in HR, finance or legal roles and/or strong interpersonal skills to expand the skills of the Board and lead Breakthrough into an exciting new era.
