Description: We are a local charity, Wythenshawe Community Initiative, who have one key aim - to support local children and families to help make their lives better. We offer support in 3 key areas:
PLAY
After school Clubs and Holiday playschemes which provide fun and exciting sessions where children learn new skills, make new friends and learn to express and manage their emotions.
EARLY YEARS
Our preschool playgroup supports vulnerable children and children with SEND to help them get ready for school and learn vital skills such as sharing, taking turns
Our mobile creche provides pop-up childcare that means parents can access training and other support as well as giving employment opportunities to local people
Our creche at Willowbank Homeless Refuge makes sure children who are homeless are still able to access childcare provision and socialize with other children, as well as allowing parents to attend appointments etc..
FAMILY SUPPORT
Our Bright Futures project offers holistic, flexible support to help vulnerable families improve their resilience and promote good mental health
Our weekly Family Centre Socials gives all local people the chance to socialise and find out what is on in the local area, as well as access advice, support and a hot meal
We encourage local recruitment of staff and promote volunteering and training opportunities for our community.
We pride ourselves on being a Centre that is welcoming and supportive for all our local families, but especially those who are facing a difficult time for whatever reason. We have an ‘Open Door’ ethos which means we will help anyone in any way we can, even if they don’t fit criteria for our services for example helping to fill in forms, signposting, issuing vouchers for the local foodbank.
