Description:
HEART stands for Hampton Environmental And Residential Trust, which was founded some five years ago to create a community trust which could more effectively address the problems in this area of west Chorlton. We are a properly constituted body with our constitution vetted and accepted by the then VAM.

We have a bank account and some sixty members in Hampton Road. We have been able to access some £2000.00 in grants to further our aims and objectives. Our main environmental concerns have been addressed over the last twenty or so years and include development of a communal garden on unadopted land, planting of trees, shrubs and flowers and the safety and maintenance of existing trees one of which is protected by a Tree Preservation Order.

We try to hold an annual Neighbours' Day in conjunction with Manchester and European Neighbours' Day, this has been very successful in building a good community social ethic. Our membership works with and has links to other local organisations like Chorlton Civic Society, Friends of Chorlton Meadows and Keep Chorlton Interesting. With these bodies we have campaigned for the designation of the Edge Lane/Wilbraham Road Conservation Area, now a reality, as well as opposed a number of planning applications. We intend to obtain further grants for safety measures and landscape work.
