Description: Pedal MCR is a workers co-operative providing bicycle education to share skills and knowledge and promote empowerment and self reliance for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Our earn-a-bike programme provides donated bicycles and parts to people that otherwise may not be able to afford a bike.
This happens in 4 steps:
1. 6 session bike maintenance class
2. Participant volunteers for 24 hours (over 6 months)
3. Participants can choose a donated bike and a worker will help them to restore and repair it
4. Participant gets the bike + takes part in cycle training and group bike ride
We provide a teaching environment that allows people of all ages to learn repair and maintenance skills specific to bicycles as well as more general skills, instilling personal skills and confidence far beyond the bike stand.
