Description: TransAction Theatre Company creates ‘Performance from the Periphery’ that responds to, and reflects the diversity within contemporary culture. TransAction Theatre Company creates innovative, issue-based, experimental performance projects of the highest quality through the creation of inclusive culturally diverse multi-art-form performance. TransAction collaborates with diverse communities, artists and organisations to create a multi-disciplined programme of socio-political cutting edge theatre projects. TransAction runs artistic and participatory cultural exchange projects that explore the ways in which we understand our own identity community and our place in the world. TransAction’s work focuses on issues of identity, empowerment and inclusion utilising theories of social change, theatre of liberation and politics of allegiance. TransAction’s uses creative exchange and exploration to build interconnection and understanding between different disciplines contexts and people.
Joey Hateley Artistic Director of TransAction, runs a wide variety of participatory projects, workshops and training for business’s, young actors, artists, and specific interest groups. Joey specializes in identity power and diversity workshops, devising and directing socio-political experimental work. Joey has worked with vulnerable children in South Africa, Namibia, India, Peru, Quito, Ecuador and with marginalized adults in the UK, Sweden, Thailand and Ecuador. Joey performs at a variety of different kinds of events across the world and is also available for bookings in non-theatre spaces for conferences and performance events. Joey is an MA graduate from Lancaster University who has taught a wide variety of socio-political educational theatre workshops for the last ten years with a wide variety of organisations.
