Description: Intergen is a nationally growing CIC. Chorlton was the first cluster of 3 schools in the country to be part of the scheme. We look for people over 60 (generally) who would like to share their skills, experience and friendship with children in one of three primary schools in Chorlton.

Process - initial expression of interest; informal interviewer with local Co-ordinator; 2 references taken up; CRB process completed; introduction to school of choice.

Most people go into school one morning or afternoon a week, so more, some less frequently.

Topics covered to date - cooking, gardening, reading, speaking & listening, drama, music, library work, joining in general classroom activities, art & craft, science, French, German, Spanish, diversity, World War 2 - do not be put off by these topics almost anything would be acceptable and of interest to the schools and the children.

Integeners do not have to be retired teachers - examples of previous experience ....taxi driver, university lecturer, school cook, clerk, social worker, psychologist, actor, gardener, nurse, artist, computer person etc etc.

The joy this work bring is shared equally between the children, the schools and the voluntgeers.
