You are invited to join a workshop for Greater Manchester VCSE organisations and members of the Alternative Provider Collaborative to capture and share learning on tackling inequalities through prevention at a local level.
10GM are particularly interested in work related to community-led Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) and Diabetes prevention but encourage any VCSE group who delivers work to tackle health inequalities to attend.
This workshop is part of our wider ambition to embed the VCSE sector as a strategic partner and provider of services in Greater Manchester’s Population Health system.
At this event you will:
- Shape a narrative which explains the value of a community-led, person centred prevention model, focusing on the wider determinants of health such as housing, employment and income
- Hear from other voluntary and community organisations who are collaborating with their local health systems to prevent ill-health and address the wider social and economic causes of ill-health
- Map the opportunities for the VCSE sector, including barriers and identified gaps, in Greater Manchester’s emerging prevention plan
- Share your views on how we embed and grow the role of the VCSE sector as a strategic partner and provider of services within our health system
Why attend?
Opportunity to contribute: Your expertise and insights will shape our collective efforts to create long term, sustainable partnerships between the VCSE sector and local health systems to tackle health inequalities and improve population health.
Networking: Connect with peers in the VCSE sector working on community-led prevention across Greater Manchester.
Why Cardiovascular disease and diabetes?
NHS Greater Manchester has highlighted the prevention of CVD and Diabetes as a system-wide priority in 2024/25.
CVD and Diabetes are leading causes of disability and premature mortality and is intimately linked with causing, worsening and perpetuating health inequalities; making it a central issue diminishing the wellbeing and quality of life of many within Greater Manchester.
Preventing CVD and Diabetes means lots of different things- from effective clinical care through to neighbourhoods that help us feel supported, connected and resilient through a variety of information, activities and networks.
