This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating something remarkable...

Since 2014, the Friends of Didsbury Park have quietly and consistently contributed to the heart of their community. From litter-picking to planting, from events to everyday care, volunteers of all ages have helped make Didsbury Park a place to treasure. And now, they’re approaching an incredible milestone: 50,000 hours of volunteering.

That’s the equivalent of nearly six years of continuous work, all given freely by people who care.

To mark this achievement, we’ll be sharing a series of stories throughout Volunteers’ Week - hearing from the volunteers, supporters, and community members who make this possible. We’ll explore what motivates them, how the park has changed over time, and what this milestone means to Didsbury.

Whether you’ve joined a community clean-up, attended one of the Friends’ family fun days, or simply enjoyed a walk in the park made possible by local volunteers - this celebration is for you.

Want to support the park but can’t commit to hands-on volunteering?

Becoming a member of the Friends of Didsbury Park is a powerful way to help. Just £10 a year supports the purchase of plants, tools, community events, and park improvements. Members don’t need to volunteer directly - but they’re still making a huge difference.

Follow along all week as we honour the power of community action, one story at a time. And if you're inspired to get involved, we’ll show you how.

Here’s to 50,000 hours - and the many more still to come.
