£5,000 grant funding available for community groups in Manchester getting behind greener travel

12 Sep 2012 - 15:04 by michelle.foster

As part of the Greener Journeys initiative, three grants of £5,000 are up for grabs for Greater Manchester-based community organisations, clubs and charities to promote bus travel to their members or supporters. Working alongside local bus company Stagecoach and other major bus operators, Greener Journeys hopes to find local groups with the influence and credibility to encourage people in their communities to leave their cars behind and try the bus instead.

The project is looking to work with three non-profit organisations that have direct contact with the community and are in a position to influence their behaviour. Applications are welcomed from all types of organisation, including sports clubs/associations, religious groups, children/family groups, residents groups, green/environmental organisations, etc.

Successful applicants will come up with a plan that demonstrates innovative thinking to encourage and enable people to switch some of the journeys they take from the car to the bus. Greener Journeys will work with the three successful applicants to bring those ideas to life in early 2013, providing communications advice and materials.

For a full brief and application form, contact Rob Moore, on 020 7434 7217, or email: [email protected].
