21 Feb 2020 - 09:40 by michelle.foster

Changing the way people over 50 are represented in the media

This initiative is designed to generate positive and realistic images of people over 50 and we would like you to send us your photograph exploring one of the six themes below:

  •     New Beginnings
  •     Passing it on
  •     Journeys
  •     Making a Difference
  •     Being yourself
  •     Together

It is really important that you read all the rules and regulations before you start planning your photograph and that you download the Consent Form which must be submitted with your entry for inclusion. If you are under the age of 18 you will also need to submit a completed Parental/Guardian Authorisation Form.

PRIZE FUND
As well as being part of this movement to re-present ageing, we have a range of prizes for our shortlist entrants and winners.

All 30 shortlisted entrants will receive a place in the touring exhibition in Greater Manchester and will be featured in an online gallery, with opportunities for wider exposure.

The six finalists (one for each theme) will win:

  • A photography masterclass with ‘NotQuiteLight’ photographer Simon Buckley
  • The winning image will appear in a GM Ageing Hub publication in 2020
  • Your image printed out and framed
  • One overall winner will win a £250 voucher for photographic equipment

JUDGING PROCESS
All entries will be judged by a panel including a professional photographer and a panel of older people. Shortlisted entries will be announced on this competition webpage on 6 May 2020.

The six theme finalists and overall winner will be announced at the exhibition opening in central Manchester on the weekend of 16/17 May 2020.
