The Asda Foundation – Investing in Spaces and Places Grant

asda foundationThe Asda Foundation has launched a new grants programme to help small grassroots organisations improve local community spaces and places across the UK.

The Investing in Spaces and Places Grant will provide funding of between £5,000 and £25,000 to help with building repairs, building improvement/development, and/or outdoor improvement/development for properties which the community organisations either own or lease. Costs could include materials, tradespeople, and equipment purchases/rental. Funding will be awarded on a regional basis, with 50% match funding required.

Groups should contact their local Asda store’s Community Champion to discuss their project.

To be eligible, applicants must either:

  • Own and have full responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the building/space; or
  • Lease and have full responsibility for upkeep and maintenance with at least 10 years remaining

Organisations must demonstrate:

  • Commitment to the community mission
  • People-centered activity i.e. promotion of equality, inclusivity, and diversity
  • Efficient running of the group
  • Local-focused projects i.e. the space is a focal point in the community

Application forms can be obtained from Asda Community Champions, which are based in local Asda superstores. Applicants can use the store locator link on the Foundation website to get in touch with their local store and speak to their Community Champion about their project proposal.

Nominations will be made by each local Champion by 9 January 2022
