Befriending Phone Line for Polish Over-50s

18 Jun 2020 - 14:10 by michelle.foster

europiaEuropia has launched a befriending phone-line service for Polish people who are over-50 years old led by Europia Outreach Officer Karol Kochanowski.

Here's what he had to say so far:
"At the beginning of lockdown, Europia realised that older EU nationals would be more vulnerable and more isolated due to social distancing. As a result I worked with the rest of the Europia team to set up our befriending phoneline, which clients ring up and register for a weekly a friendly chat. We enlisted some brilliant volunteers who are helping to answer the phones, and now we are looking to set up a similar service for the Lithuanian and Romanian communities". Karol Kochanowski, Europia Outreach Officer.

This service is available 10am-2pm Monday to Thursday, telephone: 0161 826 3177

There is also a Facebook Group for Polish over-50s. People can join and discuss things they want to raise (about COVID-19 and other things).
