Carers Manchester South

22 Apr 2021 - 14:22 by michelle.foster

carers manchester logoCarers Manchester South are a new team of Carers Locality Coordinators that were set up in January 2021. Carers Manchester South are a partnership of Manchester Carers Forum, Together Dementia Support, Lifted Carers Centre, Connect Support and Wai Yin Society, who work together to provide services for unpaid carers in South Manchester.

Carers Manchester South role is to develop relationships and work with GP practices, health and social care teams, voluntary organisations and community groups who are based, or work in South Manchester, to support them to become more carer friendly.

Being carer friendly means having a better understanding of the experience and impact of being a carer, helping to identify hidden carers and providing carers with information to get the advice and support they need as quickly as possible.

To help achieve this, Carers Manchester South are offering short (20mins) Carer Awareness sessions. The sessions will be via Zoom and highlight the experiences and impact on people who provide unpaid care, as well as looking at how you can be carer friendly.

There is also a Carers Manchester Contact Point helpline that can provide people with information about carer support services. Contact 0161 543 8000 (Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm), email: [email protected] or visit their website: www.carersmanchester.org.uk
