Charity Governance Awards 2025

The Charity Governance Awards are an exciting not-for-profit initiative created to celebrate outstanding governance and trusteeship in charities across the UK, allowing large and small not-for-profit organisations to inspire and learn from one another. These are the only charity awards that are designed to celebrate trustees, free to enter (with a free awards ceremony), and do not generate profit for the sponsors or partners. The mission is to celebrate and reward exceptional charity governance, while sharing exemplary work that inspires and informs boards and trustees across the country.

There are five categories intended to showcase the work trustees do to help charities respond to emerging challenges and fulfil their missions. The grand prize for winners is £6,000 (£1,500 for runners-up).

Boards demonstrating outstanding governance and trusteeship are urged to share their own examples of best practice and help raise the bar of charity governance across the UK.

The Charity Governance Awards are open to any charity registered in the UK; entries are free and easy to submit online before 12 February 2025.

The shortlist will be announced in April. All shortlisted charities are invited to invite up to three representatives to a complimentary awards ceremony in June, where the winners are revealed.

Cash Prizes and Other Rewards
The winner of each category will receive a trophy and a £6,000 cash prize (as an unrestricted grant) for its charity. Runners-up will receive grants of £1,500 each, and all shortlisted charities will be offered a one-year membership to the Association of Chairs for their chairs or vice-chairs, as well as a free place on a Cause4 Trustee Leadership Training Programme for a new trustee.
