About the programme
Charterpath has partnered with the Alliance Manchester Business School to offer a unique programme matching charities with talented students undertaking a Masters course in International Accounting. These students bring prior work experience and are eager to apply their financial skills in a UK charity setting.

From management reporting to finance processes, this is a great chance to tackle those important but under-resourced projects – with motivated, skilled volunteer support.

Overview
Format: Student work in pairs
6 hours per week for 4-6 weeks across June - August 2026
Availability: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays

Projects: The students can provide support with tasks such as:

  • Financial administration, reconciling bank statements or organising documents for independent examination / audit
  • Analysis of income and spending trends to identify risks or opportunities
  • Collation of information for budget and forecasting or annual reports
  • Preparation of reports and dashboards to track financial performance
  • Review of finance processes and controls
  • Automation of tools to make regular finance tasks more efficient

Support: The charity must provide a clear brief and supervise with regular check-ins
Students are also supported by AMBS and Charterpath teams

Eligibility: To participate, your organisation must:

  • Be a registered charity or CIC
  • Have an office in the Greater Manchester area
  • Provide appropriate supervision (weekly, ideally in person)
  • Have appropriate insurance and health & safety policies in place
