The Equity Foundation grants exist to ensure that grassroots community groups are able to access the resources they need to deliver in their communities.
They currently offer three funding streams:
• Equity Green Shoots Fund up to £2,500 - for projects with a clear focus on supporting people in to work and promoting financial inclusion.
• Equity Healthy Communities Fund up to £2,500 - grants to support projects and groups whose primary aim is to improve or promote healthy living.
• Equity Sponsorship Fund up to £500- available for community events and activities where there is a clear benefit to local communities or charity.
Equity Green Shoots Fund:
Projects that involve Equity Housing Group customers
• Increasing opportunities for volunteering
• Pilot initiatives to support people from groups considered hard to reach to improve their progression to work (e.g. providing training aimed at building confidence and skills)
• Providing assistance with accessing jobs, work placements etc.(including assistance with travel or childcare)
• Improving basic skills
• Promoting financial inclusion
Equity Healthy Communities Fund:
Projects that demonstrate value for money and sustainability
• Reducing smoking prevalence and the harm caused by smoking
• Reducing the number of teenage pregnancies
• Reducing the prevalence of obesity in children and adults
• Improving mental health and wellbeing
Equity Sponsorship Fund:
Projects that have incorporated partnership working in their work (e.g. with other local groups or charities)
• Buying sports or play equipment
• Sports coaching courses
• Events or festivals
• Arts projects
Who can apply?
The Equity Foundation particularly encourage applications from grassroots community groups and have a preference for organisations with an annual turnover of less than £100,000.
• Registered Social enterprise/Community Interest Companies
• Registered charities
• Constituted and un-constituted community groups
Applications to the Equity Foundation must be carried out in or benefit people living in the areas where they operate, eligible areas in Manchester include:
Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Didsbury, Fallowfield, Gorton, Levenshulme, Northenden, Rusholme, Sharston, Withington and Wythenshawe.
