The GM Walking Festival Fund is designed to support walk organisers to deliver a walk as part of the GM Walking Festival in May 2024. Grants are for a maximum of £100.
The GM Walking Festival is a celebration of walking and an opportunity for everyone to join in with a programme of free, organised group walks across Greater Manchester.
The fund is looking for simple, innovative ideas that will attract walkers as part of the GM Walking Festival throughout May and enable walk organisers to sustain the offer beyond May.
Priority funding will be given to organisations or groups who have not received this fund before, or those who are looking to engage people from either or both of the below focus groups:
- Women and girls aged 18-30
- Those with long-term health conditions
Examples of things that could be included in an application for the grant are:
- Tea and coffee either on-the-go from a local cafe or refreshments after the walk, sufficient for 6 weeks of walks
- Support for transport costs to remove access barriers for participants
- Wellies in early years settings, enabling ALL children to participate
- Print costs of maps, posters, resources etc
- Pedometers to encourage self-challenge for groups or workplaces
