Grants for voluntary and community groups to help domestic abuse survivors/victims

9 Mar 2015 - 13:38 by michelle.foster

If you're a voluntary or community group, you can apply for a grant of £50,000 to provide a recovery programme for survivors/victims of domestic violence and abuse.

The full £50,000 will be awarded to one successful applicant. Half will be paid as soon as possible, and the other half in November 2015, after a review of what you've done.

You can apply on behalf of your organisation or, if you're working with another organisation, you can apply together.

The grant can be used to fund salaries, cover training, utility and transport costs or cover some of your core costs. It cannot be used to pay for the purchase of property or a vehicle, or for building renovation or repair costs.

You can apply for the grant if your group:
• is not-for-profit
• is based in the area covered by Manchester City Council or mostly works with Manchester residents
• will deliver work that can be accessed by people in all areas covered by Manchester City Council
• has a constitution
• will deliver the work between May 2015 and April 2016
• will account for any money you get and tell MCC what you've achieved with it
• will deliver work that helps domestic abuse survivors/victims move on with their lives and understand and deal with their previous experiences
• will offer opportunities for the people you are supporting to be involved in the work

Your application must show how you will meet all of the following goals:
• Safety: your work will make survivors/victims safer
• Accessibility: your work will be available to people from all groups and communities, including those who are harder to reach, and who can access it at a time, location and a way that meets their needs
• Empowerment: your work will empower survivors/victims in their recovery to move on and access work, education or training if appropriate
• Co-production: survivors/victims will be involved in how their support is delivered
• Knowledge: survivors/victims will get an understanding of domestic violence and abuse, their experience and the support that's available to them
