Greater Manchester Falls Prevention Awareness Week 18-22 September

GMCA Greater Manchester Combined AuthorityPreventing falls over the life course is a priority for us in Greater Manchester. Falls can be a crucial indicator of poor health and wellbeing in mid to later life and prevention interventions can support individuals to age well.

Each and every one of us has a role to play in raising awareness of falls across community, clinical and care settings. In January 2022, we launched the Greater Manchester Falls Collaborative to oversee and deliver the strategic and operational system-level priorities and recommendations for falls prevention, integration, and reconditioning. The Collaborative welcomes anyone who is working in falls, has an interest in falls prevention, or has lived experience of falls.

Thursday 21 September: GM Falls Collaborative: Community of Learning, Sharing and Problem Solving
As part of the Greater Manchester Falls Collaborative, we have committed to the development of a 'Community of Learning, Sharing, and Problem Solving (CoLSP)'.
What's the purpose?

  • To bring together a collective with a shared purpose.
  • To develop a mechanism for effective sharing, including workshops, action learning sets, updates, conferences, etc.
  • Diverse and unrestricted membership to enable collaboration to feed into and across priority areas.
  • Showcasing and celebrating what works effectively across Greater Manchester within communities and neighbourhoods.

This initial session will be to play back what we have heard key stakeholders across the system would want from a CoLSP. We will also be looking to prioritise each area to start to develop a programme of how we can deliver on this. Please do come along and share with your colleagues from your locality/organisation, or with anyone who this might be of interest to.
