Hate Crime Strategy – Third Party Reporting Centres

26 Jul 2013 - 09:56 by michelle.foster

In January this year, The Manchester Community Safety Partnership launched its new Hate Crime Strategy - Let's End Hate Crime for Manchester.

This strategy sets out a clear vision for tackling hate crime in Manchester against the following five key partnership priorities:
1. Prevent hate crime
2. Increase the reporting of hate crime and hate incidents
3. Take effective action against perpetrators
4. Support victims of hate crime
5. Improve partnership responses

As part of the delivery plan for the strategy, work is taking place to increase awareness of reporting methods throughout the city to empower victims to report incidents along with better support for victims of hate crime by working with partners and third party reporting centres to ensure that support services are effectively signposted to victims and vulnerable communities.

The Partnership would like to invite key groups and organisations across the city who would might be interested in becoming a hate crime third party reporting centre. The role of these centres vary from promoting hate crime reporting to providing recording, reporting and support services. All third party reporting centres will receive training and an information pack to support them.

If you would like to express an interest in becoming a hate crime third party reporting centre, email Joanne Green, Greater Manchester Police, at: [email protected], by Friday 9 August 2013.
