Heritage Windows: Businesses across Greater Manchester invited to tell their stories and histories during Manchester Histories Festival 2016

8 Apr 2016 - 09:36 by michelle.foster

From clothes shops to hotels, car showrooms to solicitors, locksmiths to mechanics, bakers to book shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs to hairdressers, high street brands and independents; every business is part of telling the story of the great City region.

Manchester Histories Festival returns from the 3-12 June 2016 and shops and businesses across Greater Manchester are invited to get involved. Manchester Histories (MH) wants businesses to dress a window that tells the stories of their business and reflects the heritage of their company, the building your business is based in, the site on which your business now stands, or the stories of your staff and customers, for passers by to see.

MH wants shops and businesses across Greater Manchester to get creative and create displays of anything from objects, photographs, plans, and maps, to the stories of their employees and customers, and showcase their links in the City region.

Manchester Histories Festival (MHF) is delivered by MH, a small charity whose purpose is transforming lives through histories and heritage by working in collaborative partnerships with communities, individuals and organisations across Greater Manchester. The 3-12 June 2016 will mark the fourth Festival. Over 25,000 people attended in 2014 when MHF worked with over 100 partners from across Greater Manchester. The MH team can also be of assistance in researching the histories or heritage of your business or the building or site where your shop or business now stands or can help to train you or your staff to carry out research.

If you want your window to be included in the Heritage Window project and Manchester Histories Festival and included on the website and the social media campaign, contact 0161 306 1982, or email: [email protected] by Friday 29 April, 5pm to register your interest.
