Home Community Café Charitable Incorporated Company (CIC) mission is to provide a safe, accepting place where people can flourish. Home Community Café believe in nurturing relationships between local residents and organisations, by providing social space, events and training opportunities. Home Community Café work to improve people's lives though strengthening community, valuing individuals and creating an inclusive and welcoming space where everybody feels they belong. Direction for the charity is provided by a small group of trustees and the Café manager.
The Café provides volunteering opportunities for youth, retirees, people from migrant communities, those with learning and mental health difficulties and those wanting to gain experience to build their CV or change career direction. For some volunteers, working at Home provides vital social contact and a morale boost. For others, it provides practical skills development. For customers, Home provides a baby and toddler-friendly space with toys and books, where new mothers can relax with friends. It is also visited regularly by elder patrons for welcoming companionship.

Volunteers take a vital role in the operation, management and event planning of the cafe, through work opportunities, training, consultation, and trustee work, ensuring the Café offers consistently good customer service and delicious wholesome food and drink.

Volunteer Fundraising Trustee role
Home Community Café are currently seeking to expand our board by adding a voluntary trustee with professional experience in third sector fundraising, including sourcing suitable funds for identified projects, grant/bid writing, and assessing social impact of grant-funded initiatives.
Volunteer Marketing Trustee role
Home Community Café are currently seeking to expand our board by adding a voluntary trustee with professional experience in third sector social marketing. This role entails facilitating technological and face-to-face outreach to promote Home Café events, special projects, work and volunteering opportunities, and effective social media activity.
Trustee commitment
Trustees are responsible for overseeing the strategy and direction of Home Community Café and promoting enterprise sustainability in line with the Café’s core mission and values. Trustees also hold legal responsibility for the charity. Suitable candidates for this role will have the experience and energy to make a tangible contribution at board level in collaboration with the Chair and other trustees.
The time commitment required is attendance at monthly board meetings in Didsbury along with participation in agreed initiatives which the trustee will direct, provide consultative support for, and/or collaborate on delivering.
Appointment is for a three year term with possible re-election for up to three terms. No salary is paid but reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
