Host your own micro-international festival

27 Apr 2018 - 11:05 by michelle.foster

Manchester International Festival is offering Greater Manchester residents the opportunity to host their own micro-international festival in their home or local area. Manchester International Festival

Manchester International Festival is looking for:
• Original ideas with a big ambition on a scale that allow you to try something new
• Ideas that embrace the adventurous spirit of Manchester International Festival
• Ideas with an international link, large or small
• Ideas that can help you build skills and knowledge in a particular area

Since November 2016 MIF has been supporting people in Manchester to host inspiring and community building events in their own home from Parisian punk workshops and Dholki celebrations, spoken word and slam poetry in living rooms, to an alternative classical concert mixed with live art in an apartment block.

Manchester International Festival is now looking for people outside of the city to get involved with Festival in My House so if you live in Bury, Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford or Wigan they want to hear from you! Manchester International Festival will help you with event planning and producer support, as well as a budget of £1500.

Plus for the very first time, Manchester International Festival will also be working with people in Manchester to host a micro-international festival outside of their home with Festival in My Neighbourhood. If you have an idea for a micro-international festival in your local area that involves partnering with other groups or individuals in a communal space such as your local park, library, football ground, place of worship, concert hall, library or similar, Manchester International Festival can help with event planning and producer support, as well as a budget of £3,000.

Music, dance, drama or visual art, there’s really no limit except your imagination. Once submitted, your idea will be selected against the above criteria by a panel of former hosts and the MIF team. You don’t have to have experience creating this type of event before.
