Household Support Fund

supportWhat is the Household Support Fund?
The Government has provided funding to help vulnerable people and families with essentials over the winter period, the Household Support Fund. Manchester City Council is working with the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector to distribute £300,000 to support Manchester’s most vulnerable residents and increase food security among Manchester’s ethnically diverse communities:

  • £200,000 through Citizens Advice Manchester for grants
  • £50,000 to Manchester’s Food Partnership to provide culturally appropriate food through the Rafiki Food Project (Manchester BME Network and Fareshare GM)
  • £50,000 to Macc to issue as grants to eligible residents through a diverse network of trusted VCSE sector referral partners

To households in need, help with the costs of food, clothing or utility bills is available as a one-off payment: £100 for households with dependents under the age of 19 or £70 for households with no dependents.
This funding is available only to residents in the city of Manchester. It is not means-tested and not conditional on receipt of benefits.

If you are not already accessing this funding through a local voluntary or community group and are interested in applying on behalf of your household please contact Citizens Advice Manchester on 0808 278 7800 (call free from landlines and mobiles) or via on an online contact form
