Increasing City of Manchester Apprenticeship Registrations (IAR)

11 Apr 2013 - 14:25 by michelle.foster

The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) website is the “Gateway” to all apprenticeship opportunities as both the notifications of new vacancies and applications for those vacancies flow via the NAS website. With that in mind, young people need to be “In It To Win It!” so to speak. Manchester City Council need to ensure Manchester young people are registered on the NAS website if they are to take advantage of the apprenticeship opportunities we are creating in the City, therefore we are looking to increase NAS registration activity for 16 – 18 year olds.

Delivery Outline
Manchester City Council are looking to offer the following, one off, funded activity to City Of Manchester registered Work Club providers, registered Youth Fund Providers, Youth Contract Providers and Connexions service provider;
An incentive to support the delivery of NAS registrations for 16-18 year old young people not currently registered on the NAS website.

Manchester City Council are looking to support the registration of 300 young people, not currently registered on the NAS website, with a payment of £20 for each new registration supported via an initial information session.

In the first instance Manchester City Council want to gauge both interest and potential capacity and would appreciate you taking the time to complete the short expression of interest form attached.

Should you express an interest in being involved, a formal contracting process would then follow. It should however be noted at this stage, the following principles will apply:
• All staff involved in delivery of the initiative must attend a Compulsory 2 hour briefing session that will outline the initiative. The session will take place at the end of April - attendance at the session is non-negotiable

• Before the registration of young people is completed, providers must deliver an initial information session (minimum session length 40 minutes) outlining apprenticeships, NAS website including mobile app – Sessions can be individual or group sessions

• The Initial information session outlined above will be underpinned by resource material made available via MCC

• A registration incentive payment will only be made on receipt of evidence that an initial information session has been attended, registration has been completed and activated and the attendee was not previously registered on the NAS website

• Payment will be on a payment by results model, no upfront payments will be made

Manchester City Council are working on a tight timescale as outlined below, so would ask organisations to be realistic in relation to both their engagement and potential volume delivery:

• Expression of interest released 9 April 2013

• Expression of interest returned 19 April 2013

• Contracts issued by 30 April 2013

• Briefing session held by 30 April 2013

• Delivery commences 1 May 2013

• Delivery ends 28 June 2013
