Interventions in community organisations to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities

29 Mar 2017 - 10:00 by michelle.foster

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Public Health Research Programme wishes to commission primary research on the effectiveness of interventions in community organisations for improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities. Proposals must evaluate interventions with the potential for wider future application to build evidence for local decision makers. Studies must have a primary health outcome. The following issues are of interest:
• Community organisations as a network or setting for health improvement interventions, including their particular contribution, and added value beyond routine provision, and as part of local public health programmes
• Addressing health priorities for specific populations to improve health and reduce health inequalities
• The effect of interventions on different groups of people and on health inequalities
• There must be a primary health outcome but wider community impacts are of interest including social capital and benefits to the organisation
